I just found this forum Via another group. Have not been doing puter forums, but found some interesting.
The topic brought back some interesting things I have ran into over the years of loading. The most recent was with cast bullets in a 45-70. Cast some using my normal alloy +/- #2 Lyman just under 300 grns .358 dia.gas check, loaded pretty good in the Rugar #3. The round went through the deer like steel rebar and killed both the deer and a rather good sized rock. Did more damage to the rock than the deer. Left a nice 45 cal hole in ribs in/out and top portion of the heart. Using the same mold but near pure lead the mold dropped 328 grns. Loading data the same, only the after math changed. A 45 cal entry and a golf ball sized exit and between the two looked like it had been through a blender. Makes a impressive load, recoil is a little much.
Will dig some up old notes and a couple pictures of recovered rounds, from game and range tests.
